Workshops are presented on Saturdays from 9 am to 4 pm at the Diocesan Pastoral Center. Full descriptions are listed below as well as bios of the presenters.

Workshops are open to all. Fee is waived for all Certificate participants.

Tuition for non-certificate attendees is $25.

Canon Law/Sacramental Policies
Presenter: Rev. Christopher Fraser, JCL
This workshop will give an overview of Canon Law, examining the history of Church law and the importance of its codification.  It will look at key principles of Canon law, including the relationship between law and faith, as well as defining the principle of communio.  The workshop will give a brief history of the Code of Canon Law and a synopsis of the structure of the current code.  It will discuss the principles for interpreting Canon Law.  Finally, it will explore the canonical foundations of the Sacraments of Initiation and Matrimony.

Cultural and Religious Overview of the Diocese of Phoenix
Presenters: Rev. Michael Diskin and Ignacio Rodriguez
This workshop will look at the reality of the many ethnicities and religions within the Diocese of Phoenix.  It will give an overview of the problems discussed by John Paul II in Ecclesia in America.  It will highlight of the principles of missionary activity as seen in John Paul II’s Mission of the Redeemer.   It will give an introduction to the principles for ecumenism as outlined in John Paul II’s Encyclical on Commitment to Ecumenism, Ut Unim Sint.

Parish Structure and Mission
Presenter: Eric J. Westby
This workshop will examine the history and mission of the role of the parish in the life of the Church, beginning with Apostolic times and working towards our present day.  It will look the role of the parish as outlined in current magisterial documents and the code of Canon Law.  It will examine the practical dynamics of parish life today and the will look at the structure and issues of working on a parish staff.

Kino Leadership Conference
The Kino Leadership Conference is designed to equip Parish Catechetical and Youth Leaders to meet the demands of fostering the New Evangelization in our Diocese.

This conference will help new and experienced leaders focus on developing the right vision, the relationships, and principles for evangelization and catechesis. Designed by veteran catechetical leaders from the Diocese of Phoenix and throughout the country, this conference will help you focus on the essential areas that lead to fruitful, disciple-making outreach.
