Essentials of the Catholic Faith is a short program that introduces the participant to the teachings of Christ for the purpose of knowing and following Jesus more deeply.  Taught by priests and lay people from around the Diocese, Essentials seeks to:

  • Facilitate conversion to Christ through the Church.
  • Impart the story of salvation history, developing the foundation for Biblical catechesis.
  • Provide an overview of the Church’s mission of evangelization and catechesis.
  • Help adults know the Deposit of Faith through a systematic and complete study of the United States Catholic Catechism for Adults.

Each mini-course is 6 contact hours, except ESS108, which is 3 contact hours.

Classes are offered on Saturdays 9:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. throughout the year and during a two-week program in June.

Entrance Requirements:

  • 18 years of age or older
  • Completed registration form


$100.00 (8 mini-courses) (Effective July 1st tuition will be $125)
